My Dear friends

It’s so lovely to be in touch with you again, this past year has just flown by, it’s been quite a year and juggling with everything, making sure everything gets done, is quite a job

I have just been planting some winter pansies in the garden, it’s one little flower that survives the winter and always brings a smile to your face when you see the amazing colours of the petals. Even in the depth of winter there are so many wonderful things to see that God has created.

As we move into Advent and await the coming of Christ in all his glory we have so much to be thankful for.

I would like to say a big thank you for your prayers and your love and the support you give to Mothers’ Union; it means such a lot to members knowing they have your support in their branches and deaneries through prayer

The year has been busy and two events (not including our annual rally) that come to mind are the “MU mile”, a sponsored walk along Southport Pier. On a rather windy day in May, over eighty people took part, ages ranging from babies to grannies and one lady over 90. It was a great outreach for Mothers’ Union raising well over £5,000 for Mothers’ Union projects. Everybody had a great day.

The other event happened in August, we celebrated “Faithful in Prayer” a day to celebrate the work of Mothers’ Union and our founder Mary Sumner. There were displays which high-lighted the work of Mothers’ Union and craft activities for all ages. We also welcomed a branch from Manchester who joined us in the service of celebrations in the Lady Chapel. The week attracted many visitors from home and abroad.

Just two of our successful days this year that were helped with your prayers.

Our guest speaker this year at our Annual Rally was our Chief Executive of Mothers’ Union Mr Reg Bailey who came to talk about the Bailey Review and what a terrific night we had.

We also have wonderful news that a new branch has opened in the Cathedral a first for Liverpool. Please support this branch by including them in your prayers.

Next year is our tri-ennial year, we need your prayers more than ever as many positions in the Diocese will become vacant including mine as I will have done six years, 2012 will be a very emotional year as I go around the diocese to say my farewells.

Please prayer for the right person to come forward to follow on the steps of Mary Sumner and carry the light of Christ.

The weather seems to have change with gusty winds last night I do hope we won’t have as bad a winter as last year. Do take care as winter approaches.

I wish you a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year from all your friends in Liverpool Mothers’ Union.

Love from

Margaret (Diocesan President)
